What do you do? I run a successful Boutique recruitment company specialising in Commerical recruitment eg: Data Entry, Receptionist Personal Assistants,Store Managers, Sales and many more positions
What qualifications do you need to get this job?
I believe good Life Skills and ability to understand people is all you need and a great SALES attitude.
How do you get your foot in the door?
Firstly its about Attitude, I had worked in many call centres and dealt in many aspects of customer service. After leaving the call centre industry I was always wanting more in a role and enjoyed working with people and watching other people succeed in their roles. . I decided to work as a Case Manager for unemployment then moved from that role after 18 months to my first role as a recruitment consultant. That was just my beginning.
What hours do you do? Days of work?
Have worked 50 60 hours plus and always planning the next day or next week. Recruitment requires you to be highly organised and very proactive.
Do you get a company vehicle?
I run the company and decided that I could also own two vehicles so have bought them both they are identical and a little different to a normal company vehicle we bought two Silver Altezzas I love them. Both with ICG personalised plates.
Where is the role based?
I am based in Christchurch however I recruit across the country and have had to fly south to interview in Invercargill Dunedin and north to Wellington. No problems with the travel and of course with such great systems we have on site we can recruit anywhere.
Room for promotion?
Not for me however in the industry promotion in recruitment could be running your own desk or business.
Allowances?
Recruitment bonuss can be very exciting depending on who you work for.
Travel involved/ opportunities?
Once in recruitment you can take this type of role Globally.
Normal time off?
When you take time off in Recruitment you need to make sure you take the time off as the role can be very demanding but i will say its very rewarding. Time off is essential.

Only that you get to know where all the good jobs are.
Do you get to attend many functions/events?
Many we run a successful networking event for business owners in Christchurch. I attend other business functions as they come in from other companies that we may recruit for.
Social group? Drinkees?
Only what we create. When working in a small team one needs to make the effort to get out and socialise. My social events consist of Friday long lunches with Business owners or people within my network that enjoy a long Friday lunch. I make sure i have this booked out every week.
Outfits/Clothes/ Uniform?
All about fashion and looking good - all recruiters expect their interviewees to dress for an interview then all recruiters should look top end presentable. I love it.
Any downsides to the job?
No there isnt but one must be able to manage their time.
