If you want to go somewhere that won't break the bank so close to Christmas, but is still a whole night out, with dinner and then good to stay for drinks, you can't go past the Mexican Cafe on Lichfield St.
Part of the SOL (South of Lichfield) district, The Mexican Café was opened in 2005 and is now open for lunch Thursday to Sunday from 12 p.m. and open for dinner seven nights a week from 5 p.m.
They offer more than 40 different dishes seasoned with the taste of Mexico and Southern California. You can get your good ol burrittos or try something a bit more exotic.
There are approximately 100 seats in the restaurant but there can be over 250 people eating and drinking in there on a packed-out night. Bookings are recommended for groups of eight or more and you can book online on their website - easy!
With over 130 different Tequilas, 25 beers and 43 wines plus a great cocktail list (Try a slynkey fave - a Paradiso Margarita - they are fab!) Someone in our group bought a $50 shot of tequilla! Not something you would do every time you go there but is quite cool to try some of the rare tequillas - just don't spill it!
