Havaianas are the must have jandel for this summer. First sold in the 1960s in Brazilian neighbourhood markets and small roadside shops, Havaianas are now a fashion icon sold all around the world - including Christchurch!
Based on Japanese zori flip flop sandals, creators of the Havaianas made their comfy rubber version. The 'original' style was white on the sole and had coloured straps, then Havaianas launched the single colour 'top' jandal we love in 1994. It is mostly this 'top' style you find in our Christchurch stores (and in the picture above).
But there are also other styles - like 'surf' for the guys with a smoother strap and funky surf patterns on the sole. Also the news 'slims' which have thinner straps and come in gold and chrome hues. Once you wear Havianas you will never buy any other jandals! And will find yourself wanting to wear them day & night!
Havianans are $30 - $35 and you can get them from most surf shops. We have seen them recently in Amazon, Pants & the surf shops down High Street. Trust us, they are worth every penny. Havaianas are oudorless and can be chucked in the washing machine if they get dirty - easy!
