Makeup

This month we’ll talk a little on colour…..

The opposite colour to somebody’s eyes, should in theory “pop” their eye colour. Therefore, if you put orange eyeshadow on someone with blue eyes, the blue of their pupils will be enhanced or “pop” more than usual. However, in saying this, all of the warm tones will help to “pop” the blue of your pupils too.

So...Green eyes, if you use Red as an eyeshadow, this will “pop” your eyes, and enhance the green of your pupils. The only thing with red, it is a hard colour for anybody to wear on the eyes, because of the reflection given off around the eyes, so a red-based brown will do the trick!

Violets are a favorite of mine which are really nice on green eyes, so Smokey eyes (see our archieve for a fab past article on smokey eyes! - ed.) using a dark purple or violet, instead of black or brown, will get those eyes “popping” nicely.

Just contradicting myself now, sometimes I will put a certain blue eyeshadow on blue eyes, and this also enhances or “pops” the blue pupils. Normally a deeper shade of blue than the actual pupil itself will do this.

If you have brown eyes, you are very lucky as I believe you will get away with wearing pretty much any colour, and many colours will actually “pop” your eyes. Now depending on if you have other colours in the pupils of your eyes, such as yellow, orange or hazel, using opposite to these (such as blues and crimsons) your eyes will “pop” more of an orange, yellowy brown and you will notice the pupils of the eye more than usual.

Subsequently, reminding you when doing your eye makeup, I believe you should notice the pupils of the eye rather than noticing the eye makeup, whether you’ve used bright or nude colours!
