4 simple techniques to achieve variation

I believe the actual theory behind “makeup art” hasn’t changed too much today, apart from the different “application styles” from say the 1920’s through to the later 90’s. Give these four simple options a go, if you’re tired of doing the same thing time and time again.

1. Light Eyes and Light Lips – this look is a version of the “no-makeup look” which was pretty popular through the second half of the 1980’s and early part of the 1990’s. The idea is to have a freshness that is kept natural, insuring you don’t apply to heavily. The key is to be able to see the skin through the make-up.

2. Light Eyes and Dark Lips
– this look is very similar to above keeping the overall face looking nice and fresh. Seeing the skin is still key here. The only difference is you want to take the foundation over the lip line to decrease any shadows, then line with a lip pencil to create a very sharp edge, and top up with a bold or dark lippy.

3. Dark Eyes and Dark Lips – this look is much stronger, possibly better for a night look rather than day time. It may work better if you line the eyes on the inside of the rims (on top of the rim where you will find the tear duct), also try the upper lid. Doing this will give much more depth and when using darker eye shadow colours make sure you take the time to blend properly! I would recommend a touch more mascara than normal. If you do decide to line the lower rim, remember that doing this will actually close the eye down quite a lot.

4. Dark eyes and Light Mouth – you can’t really go wrong with this look because we are playing up the eyes and using a paler lipstick. Generally a soft apricot, pink, brown or even a concealer can be used. This would be one of the most popular looks at the present time.
