What's On Your Wish List for 2010?
Well, well, well ladies. Now that we're already into February the question begs to be asked... have you all managed to stick you your News Year's resolutions?
I know, I know, we all say we don't make them. That we don't buy into the silliness of it all and we'll make those little changes in our lives when we're good and ready, thank you very much. But I think, secretly, most of us do have at least one or two things we aspire to begin tackling (or quitting) around those first few days and weeks of the year - even if we don't admit to them.
I've made no secret of the fact that I want to make my life as fabulous as I possibly can this year, but I'm not sure I've really divulged all I could. Perhaps for the sake of a little anonymity, or just due to plain old embarrassment... but I've decided that by sharing my little goals with you all I'll at least be accountable to that fact that they're out in the public domain... and I'll feel somewhat more obligated to make an effort and stick to them.
You never know. Having a giggle at my resolutions might even make you less red-faced about your own - so get ready to start sharing!
I actually even join 43 Things last week. God knows why becasue whenever I've stumbled across the site as the result of a Google search I always think it looks lame. But actually using it is a lot more fun, and the whole system starts to make sense.
So the idea is that you add in the things you want to achieve for the year, and then add those things other people are doing to your own account if you like the idea of them.
So far I have 27 things I want to do this year... and 0 so far achieved. Although to be fair I did add 'get married' to the list so I could tick it off soon and get the ball rolling! Sad, I know, but I've become totally into lists over the past year - and crossing stuff off them is utterly satisfying in a nerdy kind of way.
So this is why I'm slightly excited about 43 things: a site that combines my love of social networking, lists and general geekery to help me feel I am actually getting things achieved during my 'meh' days.
Some of them are pretty practical, like setting a budget and sticking to it. While others are a little more random... like coming up with a cool name for our house (I always loved that Vinnie's flat on Shortland Street was called El Rancho!) and buying a cute chopper bike so I can start cycling to the supermarket. Preferably a pink or purple chopper with a basket on the front and those awesome metalic streamers coming off the handle bars.
I'm not sure they make those for cyclists over the age of eight... but I'm fairly confident I could totally pull off that look if I found one.
So what are your most random, embarrassing goals for this year? Gwon, share with the group. Or better yet, join 43 things, check out my account for ideas, and then get cracking on creating your own fabulous list!
